Welcome to the movement! We are Bringing Bread Back, baby!
Bread built societies, fed generations, but they want to tell me it’s bad for me? Nah!
There’s something happening in kitchens everywhere — more and more of us are craving food that feels human again: slow, nourishing, and shared.
When we talk about bringing bread back, we’re talking about reconnecting with something deeply human, something that has always been at the heart of how we live, work, and come together.
Bread has been the quiet backbone of civilization for thousands of years — the food that fueled the building of cities, the rise of cultures, and the gathering of families around the table. Entire economies were built around grain harvests, and wars were won or lost depending on whether people had bread to eat. It’s the simplest recipe — flour, water, salt — yet it has shaped history more than almost any other food.
When industrialization took hold, bread stopped being the nourishing, slow-fermented staple it had always been and became something cheap and fast to produce. Factories stripped the grain of its nutrients to make it last longer on shelves, added chemicals to speed up fermentation, and turned what was once life-giving into something our bodies barely recognize — leaving many of us scared of bread altogether.
But that’s changing. We are part of a movement bringing bread back to its roots: made with whole ingredients, given time to ferment, and crafted to nourish rather than harm. This is bread the way it was always meant to be — wholesome, gut-friendly, and worthy of a daily place at every family table.
This blog is here to help you fall back in love with bread — not the lifeless, store-bought loaves we’ve been taught to fear, but real, gut-healthy bread that feels good to eat and even better to share.
With my recipes, you’ll learn how to make bread and bakes that are nourishing, naturally fermented, full of flavor, and that brings joy back to the table. Each recipe is designed to help you rebuild trust with this ancient food and remind you why bread has been at the heart of every meal for millennia.
And if you’re someone who wants to share your love of baking and bless your community with nourishing, gut-healthy bread and bakes, this blog is for you, too. I’ll not only share recipes, but also tips and insights for running a thriving home bakery — so together, we can return to a time when every town knew their baker by name. This is part of my mission to bring bread back, one neighborhood at a time.
Welcome to the movement, now let’s get baking!
All the loaf,
Maria Baradell
